Relay For Life
We have a family relay for life team @ South Kitsap relay. We relay to raise money for cancer research, it became our focus as a family when we lost my mother to cancer and my father in law (our team is named after them, CJ). We refocused our efforts more strongly when my 23 year old niece was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma, there is no stage 5. We are determined to keep fighting for a cure, it IS something we CAN do, one day we will win. Until then we will keep HOPE, because we CARE to do our part.

Relay For Life
I also have a Relay for Life team! The ACS is a very valuable resource to patients while in treatment (found out first hand). They also put a lot of money into research for a cure. Locally, teams like mine and others bring awareness and a sense of community while rallying around a desire to cure this awful disease that has affected nearly everyone in some way.

Kitsap Foster care Associations DREAM project.
The DREAM project grants 1 wish per year to each foster child such as sports gear, sports fees, school dance tickets, swim lessons, dance class, senior portraits etc. The more memories we can provide for all of OUR kids the better. Every foster child deserves extras that not all families are able to afford. Like this so Lingenbrink Orthodontics can help wishes come true for kids in foster care... :)

Local/general charity
I have encountered a lot of homeless people recently.. not just individuals but families. My oldest daughter student teaches at a local elementary school and she has had a couple of students in her class that have been living with their families in vehicles until some sort of assistance comes threw. So my proposal is to help feed and keep some of these families warm. Also maybe help provide some Christmas gifts to children that probably wont get anything. Maybe this assistance can be given to Helpline or any of the other food banks/ shelters in the area. Maybe as far as gifts go how about a "giving tree" that these food banks could assist us with, where us as patients could pick a name off of the tree and buy gifts for these ever so needy children.. that organization would more then likely pick up these gifts or I am sure we could get someone to drop them off.. heck I would help with these efforts. There are too many people suffering due to the economy and any help would be I am sure greatly received.
